We get it. Things add up and life can sometimes be expensive. That’s why it’s a good idea to take a step back and look at your daily expenses finding ways to save even if its only one or two days a week. Do you buy coffee every day or buy your lunch? Here are a few things to consider that can help you pile money away each month.
1) Take public transit or walk (if you can) to work instead of driving. Paying for gas, parking and wear and tear on your car can really add up each month. If you pay everyday for parking near your office, and you are within distance of taking a bus, streetcar, go train or subway, ditch the car for even one or two days a week for public transit and save yourself a bundle. We know it’s convenient to drive and have a little me time but reducing the amount of gas and parking expenses even by a little, can really add up.
2) Meal plan. I would never have believed how much this actually works at saving money and reducing waste until I finally did it for myself. It doesn’t take long to scroll through some cookbooks, Pinterest or pick a few family favourites to plan out your groceries for the week. Make the plan, shop once and reduce the amount of waste, food and dollars. You will eat all of what you buy instead of just buying “the usual” and throwing half of it away when it doesn’t get used in your meals that week.
3) Find ways to reduce your cable/internet bill. Just because you are an existing customer doesn’t mean you can’t find promotional deals to take advantage of. Call in to your provider and find ways to get a better rate. If they won’t give you a better rate, consider switching to a smaller internet provider, dropping your cable and taking advantage of other TV providers.
