International Credit Union Day

October 18th 2016 - by Amanda Perkins

This year the focus for International Credit Union Day is the authentic difference between credit unions and banks.  Credit Union employees are passionate about what they do and truly care about the individuals they help financially every single day. From starting up a small business, to getting out of debt, to managing investments – we pride ourselves on serving our local communities.

To a Credit Union employee, this is not just a job.  We believe in the cooperative system based on the premise of providing our members with a financial institution that is not only great for them but everyone. We don’t have big corporate shareholders like the banks, allowing us to put our profits directly back into our community and to our members with better, personal service. As a Credit Union, we pride ourselves on increased charitable donations, community engagement and upgraded technology.

We like to spend the time getting to know each and every one of our members.  We are not interested in selling them specific products or the promotion of the month. We want to address and reach their personal financial goals.  For someone struggling to put food on the table, we focus on helping them pay off debt in a smart way with low interest rates and smaller payments. Another member may need help managing their retirement income or how to divvy up their assets and investments in the best way possible.

The next time you are looking to add or change something with your finances, be sure to look right in your own community. There is a Credit Union waiting to help you and your family accomplish whatever your goal may be, no matter how big or how small.  We will never turn you away because you don’t want to invest a large amount of money or because your mortgage isn’t big enough.  We are here to help everyone no matter what your financial needs may be.

You can think of us as the small and mighty!
